Character arc[]

Baba Yaga is a hideous witch who dwells in her own realm. Mirrors and water sources are portals to her world.

She helps young Slavic women take revenge on the men who've wronged them. She only grants pleas when there's an intense emotional connection between the wounded party and her target. Baba Yaga feasts on girls who don't behave.

Kenzi drunkenly invoked Baba Yaga and cursed Dyson for breaking Bo's heart by first reciting her invocation then writing his name on the bathroom mirror. The summoning shattered the mirror and caused Bo to be marked by Baba Yaga as her own.

A Water Nymph was able to transport Bo to Baba Yaga's realm.

Baba Yaga appeared to be consumed by the flames of her own oven after having been tackled into the fire by her own Domovoi in retribution for endless abuse.

Trivia[]

  • When Kenzi summoned Baba Yaga, she recited the first half of her invocation in Russian:
"Hey. Mat metla, Baba Yaga. Baba Yaga. Babka chyorta. Brababka diyavola. Vkhodii stekla cherez svoyu tyen. Vkhodii cherez svoyevo dvoynika. Pomogitye Dysonu ponyat. Because he thinks he's it, but he's just shit. Make him understand what it feels like to be rejected. To be hated. This is my vengeance plea. Hear me, Baba Yaga!"
The Russian translates roughly as:
"Mother-broomstick, Baba Yaga. Baba Yaga. Imp's Grandmother, Devil's Great Grandmother. Come out from the glass through your shadow. Come out through your doppelganger. Help Dyson to understand."
"Mee vizev-ay-em te-beh-ah ve-eed-mah lez-oh-ov. Mee vizev-ay-em te-beh-ah ve-eed-mah lez-oh-ov. Mee vizev-ay-em te-beh-ah ve-eed-mah lez-oh-ov. Mee vizev-ay-em te-beh-ah ve-eed-mah lez-oh-ov. Mee vizev-ay-em te-beh-ah ve-eed-mah lez-oh-ov."
Translates roughly as:
"We call you, witch of forests. We call you, witch of forests. We call you, witch of forests. We call you, witch of forests. We call you, witch of forests."
  • Every young Russian girl is taught about Baba Yaga or Baba Roga, also known by various other names. She is a haggish or witchlike character in Slavic folklore, the old witch who lives deep in the woods in a cottage made of bones from young girls who don't do what they're told.[2]
