Thumbs of Hrimthurs

A Hrimthurs is a Fae whose ice-cold touch can stop a person's heart.

Character arc

The Hrimthurs is also known by the description of "Frost Giant". He can turn his fingers into hard, sharp-pointed icicles.

Bo tried to use her succubus powers on Jesper, a Hrimthurs, and failed. He commented that had she tried to do it 20 years from then, when she had learned to channel her power, he would have been unable to resist her.

Trivia

  • It can be deduced that seeing as to how Bo's seductive powers work potently on most Fae — but did not on Jesper — the ice-cold nature of a Hrimthurs creates a strong resistance to such manipulation.
  • Niflheim is one of the Nine Worlds and is a location in Norse mythology which overlaps with the notions of Niflhel and Hel. Niflheim was primarily a realm of primordial ice and cold, with nine frozen rivers. Two classes of legendary beings were often labeled by scholars as the inhabitants of Niflheim — the Hrímthursar, widely known as the Frost Giants (or Rime-Giants) of Norse legend [was one of them].[1]
  • The Jötnar are a mythological race that live in Jötunheimr, one of the nine worlds of Norse cosmology. The first living being formed in the primeval chaos known as Ginnungagap was a giant of monumental size, called Ymir. When the icy mists of Niflheimr met with the heat of Múspellsheimr Ymir was born out of the joining of these two extreme forces from either world in the great void. When he slept a jötunn son and a jötunn daughter grew from his armpits, and his two feet procreated and gave birth to a son, a monster with six heads. These three beings gave rise to the race of hrímþursar (rime thurs, frost giants), who populated Niflheim.[2]
